you are going to roll your eyes at me
but
i was thinking about my "brand"
and what does that really mean

from the standpoint of like
a youtube channel or whatever
like what would i be about

i think i'm not going to do makeup
and not skincare either
i like skin care
but my skin is too sensitive to do that many things
plus, at least right now
i can't deal with that
either from an acquisition nor a financial standpoint
and
i love astrology and tarot, things like that
but
i don't really see me doing tarot
and i can't really do astrology

i like the idea of something shamanic
but i don't want to be doing
like little performances
so
that doesn't seem practical

i like videos where people kinda
lifestyle teach
and
that would totally work
if i was like on the land or whatever
but it totally doesn't work like here, now

i think
the thing that makes the most sense for me
is some sort of like educational type thing
but
when i thought of that
i'm afraid that what resurfaced was
something i've thought
since i was a kid
i can't remember how old
[start your own religion]
now that wasn't exactly what i thought now
what i thought now was more like
sort of my conception of a sermon
which is not like

put your hands on the televison set brothers and sisters
feel the energy, can you feel it flowing through you
yes i know you can

not like that
more like, well, joe frank
or really like joe frank meets spalding gray meets the dalai lama
like little talks that are world building
like philosophical performance art
but simple to understand, mostly

but
that seems crazy

in the book do androids dream of electric sheep
there is a section (actually several, i think) on mercerism
which is the religion in the world of the book
it is all about empathy
i should read it again
but as i recall
you grab hold of some machine
and you experience some visuals
and also maybe the sense
or maybe it's like mmorpg
and it's more than the sense, but actually
other people there too
and somehow you are all experiencing the same
like stations of this man, mercer

that was a fascinating part of the book for me
it turned out
it was at least partially created
mercer may have been real, or not
it wasn't made completely clear
but
the mercer of the empathy experience
whatever that was called
that was created in hollywood

anyway
i don't feel very close to any of the religious texts
that i've read
well, i like the tao
but i'm not sure that counts as a religious text
and
a lot of religions use the text as a sort of road map
for the sermons, or teachings, or whatever you want to call them
and then some just give talks or sermons
that are more based on what's going on
in the world around the listeners
and they both seem like legitimate ways to go
but
if i were to do the sermon route
then i'd just be doing it
there wouldn't be the conceptual/performance angle

no i think i would need to create the foundational literature
and the holidays and everything
but then
how far do you play that
and where does that lead
and
am i even capable of all that
idk
it's just been something that's been
buzzin around in my head
since i'm not sure when
and
this is the way it came out now

what do you think of that?
