AMAZING
& as a person who has lived
in a place where
there are storms and floods and such
I'm USED to them
doing the whole
LIST*
*counties under warning
BUT
I've never had the perspective of
none of that means anything to my MIND
it's just WORDS
BUT
I could SEE
I NEEDED to NOT be
HERE
&
when they expanded a little
I could tell that
it was behind me AND in FRONT
BUT
in FRONT of me
EXPIRED FIRST
& there WAS
NO shelter to be HAD
SO
I'm driving and
I'm watching the
TENDRILS
& the quality of the LIGHT was something to
wax poetical about
BUT
the adrenaline rush
was also epic
NOT necessarily in a good way, but extraordinary
when I finally pulled off to look for a gas station or SOMETHING
I got out of the car and there was this intense
SOUND
that reminded me of the
AIR RAID SIRENS
they used to TEST
every friday at noon
I'm not sure WHERE they were located
the ONLY place I ever HEARD them
was at the old school**
**the original building before we moved
at PVA
so I looked at the guy at the other pump
and SAID
WHAT'S THAT
& he confirmed for me
TORNADO sirens
they just gave the all clear, though
I had HEARD that
on the RADIO
