happy father's day!

i woke up with graceland in my head
and that is indeed one of my favorite albums
in fact, i think i've bought that three or four times

but
you've heard that album--  for sure
and i'd like to focus more on things you haven't (maybe) heard
or
that we haven't talked extensively about being favorites
at least for now
so
i thought about amadou and miriam
because it was one i listened to like that
but
although i still love the sound of it
i don't think
right now
i would sit down and listen to a whole album
that i couldn't sing along to
meaning different language
when i listened to them
i think i still had enough vocal damage
that i think that was a plus
because i would still sing
and it would fuck me up

it's all stormy here
the sky's pretty dark
