i've been really craving to go to the cafeteria
there's this one left that isn't a chain
i think it only dates from the 70s
but it's burnt down and been re-built twice
most recently in the last three or four years
and i haven't been there in it's most recent edition
i'm not sure
whether i'm crazy to want to go
or crazy to not be able to force myself
i read an article
about a 10 year old texas boy with covid
his organs were damaged
his heart so badly
it couldn't pump blood to his extremities
and his arms and legs were gangrenous
they told his mother
if she let them amputate his arms and legs
he would have a 25% chance
or
she could just let him go
she let him go
the new york times chose five texas restaurants
to be on the top 50 restaurants of 2021
one of them is in bellaire
kind of a weird fusion bbq
started by some guys from alief
alief is west houston
it's kind of a suburb
but high crime
and
if you are looking at real estate
you find things there that seem like they might be affordable
but they all turn out to be like something from one of those shows
where there is some horrible architectural mishap
which makes it
almost unlivable
and, crime
kick burglaries and the like
i mean
i assume it's still like that
i haven't been researching houses in houston for a while
like years
although
my mom got an unsolicited call
and she keeps talking about selling
so i went on one of those web hunt things
to get comparables
so
they are of course emailing me everything
in her zip code
and then
i think i got depressed at all these $400,000 houses
that have had all the walls removed from the living-room-dining-room-den-kitchen
except for little sections necessary to hold up the roof
so
i thought i put in under $180,000
but
it's showing me condos now up to $250,000
so idk how it's deciding what to show me
and i'm not looking to buy
but it's interesting
i've seen a few i like
but
condo is a bad deal
even if the price is right
i couldn't see myself in a condo
and i gotta say
is pretty ok
i'm not sure about the area
it looks like it's close to missouri city
and or sugarland
which is the burbs
but
probably not actually in either place
so
not near anything
but
maybe safe enough, maybe
about 12 miles from me
i'm not sure
that i'm very coherent
i'm not buying a condo
but
i still read the emails
